Program CooperatorsUS-China Build (USCB) is a collaborative effort of leading international building materials trade, policy development, and research organizations in the US. The program creates opportunities for US suppliers in China, educates US suppliers and Chinese builders about business opportunities and practices in China, and distributes valuable information about the Chinese housing and construction market. The US-China Build Program is made possible through a grant provided by the US-Department of Commerce Market Development Cooperator Program and funding from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and USCB cooperators. Cooperators include: The Evergreen Building Products Association (EBPA) is a private, non-profit industry trade association based in Tacoma, WA. The association helps its members access export markets and aids in the development and expansion of international markets for wood products and building materials. Members include manufacturers, distributors, and service providers who offer a broad range of products and services for residential and light commercial construction. EBPA offers export promotion programs and support services for market education, trade promotion and technology transfer. The Center for International Trade in Forest Products collects, analyzes, and distributes information about foreign markets for housing and wood products. A principal responsibility of the Center is to apply research findings to technical, environmental, economic, social, and resource management problems that impede exports of US-made products. This includes keeping up to date with current or developing trade agreements, barriers, and country commercial infrastructure. AF&PA efforts are focused on creating a market for all US wood products by promoting wood frame housing. Efforts are coordinated to increase market access and opportunities overseas. AF&PA technical work has helped ensure that countries do not adopt building codes and standards that discriminate against the use of wood products in general, and US wood products specifically, and encourage changes in international codes which could expand the use of wood products. The Softwood Export Council (SEC) is a trade council of US softwood grading agencies, industry trade associations, state export promotional development agencies, and others interested in promotion of US soft-wood internationally. The SEC coordinates overseas market development activities for the US softwood industry with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, and aids American exports of softwood products by providing information and assistance to agents, importers, designers, and users of these products in other countries. The Washington State Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED), International Trade Division promotes economic development and international trade for State of Washington companies and organizations. The State has trade development offices and market development programming in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Activities in China began in 1996.
